Hawley Expands AI Camera Probe to Motorola, Verkada, Axon. Docs Due Sept 16.
Flock was never the whole story.
Sen. Josh Hawley just widened his AI surveillance investigation beyond Flock Safety to Motorola Solutions, Verkada, and Axon Enterprise. Same demand: how these private camera networks collect, retain, and share Americans' movement data — and who gets to search it.
Congress never authorized a national AI camera grid. Company "policies" are the only safeguard for hundreds of millions of people who did nothing wrong. Hawley cites misuse cases (officers stalking partners via plate searches, false positives that put the wrong person in jail) and notes the Supreme Court treats continuous location tracking as different from ordinary public observation.
Document deadline for the three firms: September 16, 2026.
